Youtube is the top video-sharing platform in the world. And Google is the top search engine in the world. Together? It sounds like a match made it heaven!
Throughout my many years traveling through this digital jungle, I have been asked many times: “Can I upload a YouTube video to Google My Business?”
The quick answer to this question is: yes and no!
The real answer to this question is a little more complicated than a simple yes or no because you can share a YouTube video on Google My Business, just not the way you may think.
Keep reading to learn more about the relationship between YouTube and Google My Business, and how you can share YouTube videos to Google My Business.
Can You Share a YouTube Video on Google My Business?
As I mentioned earlier, this question can be a little complicated.
As of 2021, it isn’t possible to share a YouTube video to your Google My Business profile. Unlike other platforms, like Facebook, you can’t copy and paste the link or code to a YouTube video and share it in your profile’s photo and video gallery.
You see, sharing a video to your Google My Business profile requires a file rather than a link.
Since Google and YouTube aren’t integrated, there isn’t an easy option to add a YouTube video to your profile – especially in the gallery where most of your potential customers would be looking for a video to learn more about your business.
This is an important distinction because you won’t be able to permanently upload it to your profile – even if it is a YouTube video owned by your business!
Instead, we recommend uploading the file that you also uploaded to YouTube to share your content. This is the easiest way to share a YouTube video on Google My Business since it circumvents the fact that Google My Business doesn’t have a space to paste a link or piece of code from YouTube.

So, what do you want to do if you don’t have the file – or if you just want to share your organization’s news feature or someone else’s video? You share it in a Post, of course!
Sharing a YouTube Video on Google My Business Posts
If you’re feeling like you’re stuck in quicksand – unable to share a YouTube video even though it’s the perfect content to share to your profile – don’t worry. As King of the Jungle, it’s my job to make sure you don’t slip on a banana peel and lose out on sharing a great video.
When you don’t have the file for a video, it’s still possible to share it on your profile if you include it in a Post.
Using a Post to share a YouTube video allows you to include some great content and an eye-catching image that will attract your potential customers. Once you get this information together, you can add a link to the YouTube video so that users can click through and view the video that you want to share.
While Google My Business Posts can get buried by new Posts that you share, it’s still a great option to boost your business with video content.
